i hate it when bloggers say sorry repeatedly for a lapse in their regular posting routine, i mean really, chill out mang.
but i'll admit i've been holding out for something mind-blowing and that thing is so seriously and sincerely and obviously...
HAIM
LA-based girl band,
opening for Florence + The Machine, who clearly has good taste considering their contagious lax vibe. the part of me that is so deeply devoted to Fleetwood Mac and the "je-ne-sais-quoi" quality in Stevie Nicks' voice is on fire. they're so electric for no reason i can articulate. i can seriously see why they're exploding.
(also... they totally covered Fleetwood Mac for a tribute album. check it. arrangement is killer.)
it's really satisfying calling Haim a "girl band," since, in listening to their tracks you get the impression that they're just a great band with a unique and distinctive sound, nothing showy, very modern and clever. i really love their use of electronic percussion in a rock song, feels organic.
i'm gonna like these guys for a REALLY long time. cheers.
when it gets frigid and rainy i like to have some pounding trance for long walks in the east coast rain. feels appropriate somehow? can't listen to moombahton in the rain.
lies no one has ever not wanted to listen to moombahton EVER. REBECCA AND FIONA
it's been the soundtrack of my last 24 hours, and the theme song of this killer beautiful paper i'm writing on the art of dress and undress in 16th century Italian courtesan portraiture.
they're so beautiful :3
easily my favourite track of the Danger EP--first album thing she's released in like... what... 2 years? 3 years? SO LONG.
overwhelmed. not my favourite bit by iggy but i'll move past it.
that little spot at 1.37 is HEART BREAKING. so beautiful.
amazing how such a syrupy R&B voice can produce something so soft and sweet yet still compliment diplo's vicious moomba beats.
it's so valid. such an accurate house track. nothing forced like J.Lo or those manufactured, "insert-bass-here" pop singers turned electronic lovers strictly cause it's something shiny.
this track is so legit.
it fits for cher. that voice. IT'S CHER. WHAT EVEN.
so i heard you were looking for some fun swedish girl house?
at some point we all need a straight-up party song, especially one that lends itself well to travel/tour footage. i really do love tour music videos... something so romantic and about that particular kind of travel. in my mind at least.
basically what this is about is me having such an impossible weakness for female swedish DJs. this is not news. but what is news is the fact that...
